Adoption of Local Road Safety Plan and Affirmation of Vision Zero Goal

On Friday May 23, 2025, City Staff presented the draft Local Road Safety Plan to City Council and the Public at a City Council Meeting, the adoption of the final plan will go before City Council on July 15th including a resolution reaffirming the City's Vision Zero Commitment and establishing a goal in alignment with the State of California's goal of zero fatal and serious injuries by 2050.The City committed to Vision Zero in November 2017, and updated it Vision Zero Plan combining it with the Muiltimodal Plan in 2021.
The Plan presented to council, and available below, is the culmination of a months long effort including multiple community meetings and pop up events. The Project Team tabled at Park(ing) Day on September 20, 2024, Halloween Trunk or Treat October 22, 2024 and Downtown Farmer’s Market May 6, 2024. At these community events. Staff discussed safety concerns, traffic collision information and played Halloween Safety Trivia with Trick or Treaters. Staff also hosted two community meetings on November 14, 2024 and March 6, 2025.
City Manager Hans Uslar, reaffirmed the City's Vision Zero Commitment in the attached memorandum and has supported Staff through the Local Road Safety Plan Project Process.
